Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 91 (2013 April)

While certainly better integrated than it was when I frist reviewed it from bottle (see herein), the wood treatment is still noticeable on the fresh and ripe green apple and citrus-infused nose. There is excellent richness to the moderately exotic flavors that are supported by reasonably firm acidity on the long and presently mildly austere finish that brims with minerality. This is on the generous side at present and lacks the fine focus and deft precision that I usually see with this wine. Still, this is sufficiently firm that patience will be required, particularly in magnum format. In sum, this is a very good rather than excellent vintage for the Roumier Charlemagne, at least by the very high standards it normally achieves.
